Innovation, quality projects, research
The Nursing Directorate is committed to excellence, innovation and the continuous improvement of care quality. Our teams participate in pioneering clinical projects, implementing best practices and integrating advanced technologies, thereby contributing to the advancement of nursing research. This approach, grounded in fundamental and clinical research as well as outcome-based evidence, places patient safety, effectiveness, and experience at the heart of our actions.

The McGill University Health Centre is a primary teaching hospital partner of the Ingram School of Nursing (ISON), and the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
A strategic goal of the ISON is to strengthen collaborations with its vital clinical and research partners in order to contribute to: improving quality of care, implementation of best practices, and nursing research and innovations.
Members of the MUHC nursing leadership have faculty appointments, which permits them to contribute to nursing education, administration, and research. MUHC PhD nurses and McGill ISON faculty have the opportunity to hold investigator appointments in the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (The Institute), which also allows for research collaborations and opportunities to hold competitive research grants. This is a synergistic relationship!
This longstanding academic collaboration has contributed to the MUHC nursing leadership making major contributions to the development of nursing leaders and nurse researchers. This is demonstrated not only at the undergraduate, but also at the level of graduate education, and more specifically, through joint supervision and mentorship opportunities for clinical practicums, knowledge-translation and clinical research projects proposed by the MUHC nursing leadership.
