Patient Partners

Who are patient partners?

Patient partners are people who have had a lot of experience in the healthcare system as patients, caregivers or family members.

When you volunteer as a patient partner, you have the chance to help improve the quality of care and services at the MUHC. Your input helps us better meet the needs of patients.

Patient partners are:

  • committed to improving patient and family experience
  • good at listening with curiosity, respect, and empathy
  • willing to share their story and ideas
  • able to give constructive feedback
  • ready to actively participate in meetings

As a patient partner, you may be asked to:

  • join committees, advisory groups, or working groups
  • share your healthcare experiences
  • create or review patient information tools
  • analyze patient experience data
  • help train interns and professionals
  • take part in developing and implementing research

All patient partners must complete a registration form, a confidentiality agreement and a criminal background check.
