Launch of a major initiative: Canada’s Best
The MUHC and The Institute officially launched Canada’s Best, a postdoctoral fellowship program designed to attract exceptional young researchers from Canada and around the world. The announcement was made during a press conference attended by Dr. Lucie Opatrny, President and Executive Director of the MUHC; Dr. Rhian Touyz, Executive Director and Chief Scientific Officer of The Institute; Rémi Quirion, Chief Scientist of Quebec; and the presidents of the MUHC-affiliated foundations, along with numerous other dignitaries.
This initiative is made possible through a collaboration between The Institute, the MUHC and its four foundations: the MUHC Foundation, the Montreal General Hospital Foundation, the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation and the Cedars Cancer Foundation. CTV, City News

Hate speech against some healthcare workers: a dialogue to be restored
Several people have directed insults and threats at staff at a hospital in the Outaouais region following the death of a four-year-old girl. Hate speech is unacceptable, but it may indicate that the public expects greater transparency from institutions and that a dialogue needs to be reestablished, notes Dr. Cécile Rousseau, a psychiatrist at the Montreal Children’s Hospital.
