The Montreal Children's Hospital (MCH) Dialysis Centre has decided to look into “green nephrology”, with more than promising results. By adjusting the dialysis machines, it was able to save up to 98 L of water per patient per treatment, without affecting the quality of care. Since the fall, several healthcare organizations have been collaborating to redirect certain patients from the Montreal Children’s Hospital (MCH) and CHU Sainte-Justine to centres with pediatric expertise closer to home for further treatment. The pilot project is aimed specifically at “day hospitals”, i.e. units where patients remain under observation during the day to ensure their condition remains stable.
