The Division of Endocrine Surgery treats the following types of disorders:
Thyroid Disorders
- Thyroid nodules, cysts and goiters
- Thyroid cancer (papillary, follicular, medullary, anaplastic)
- Recurrent or advanced thyroid cancer
- Hyperthyroidism (ex. Graves’ disease, toxic/hyperfunctioning nodules)
- Thyroglossal duct cysts
Parathyroid Disorders
- Hyperparathyroidism (primary, secondary, tertiary)
- Parathyroid tumours (parathyroid adenoma)
- Parathyroid cancer
Adrenal Disorders
- Non-functioning adrenal tumours (eg. incidentaloma, adrenal adenoma)
- Functioning adrenal tumours (eg. hyperaldosteronism, pheochromocytoma, Cushing’s syndrome, sex hormone secreting tumours)
According to patient needs, they may visit the following clinics:
Multidisciplinary Adrenal Clinic – A fully integrated multidisciplinary clinic where patients are seen by endocrine and general surgeons and endocrinologists to address the work-up and treatment needs of adrenal disorders.
Joint Thyroid Cancer Clinic – A specialized clinic where patients are seen by both thyroidologists and thyroid surgeons in order to evaluate and recommend treatment strategies for patients with thyroid nodules and thyroid cancer.
Endocrine Surgery Clinic – A specialized clinic that focuses on patients who have been diagnosed with or are suspected of having endocrine tumours of the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands. The clinic is run by endocrine surgeons who are experienced in treating complex endocrine surgical disorders.
