Seeing Christmas in a Whole New Way
Seeing Christmas in a Whole New Way

In 2022, Richard Martin noticed that a lump beneath his left eye was growing at an alarming rate. Resident of Malartic in the Abitibi region, he consulted Dr. Christian El-Hadad, an MUHC ophthalmologist who travels to the area four to six times a year to provide specialized care for patients with complex eye conditions. After several tests, Richard learned that he had a rare form of cancer of the lacrimal sac. Without the chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments proposed by Dr. El-Hadad, Richard Martin could have lost his eye; however, on December 22, 2022, he received the greatest gift of all, the complete disappearance of the cancerous tumour.
