Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Dentistry - Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

The Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery team cares for patients with hard-to-treat medical conditions affecting the mouth, jaw and face. Our department combines many different specialties to provide a wide variety of services for patients with unique needs.

In addition to treating patients, we teach and train the next generation of dentists and oral and maxillofacial surgeons. We also participate in research to improve treatments and patient care.

The MUHC has a general dental clinic, as well as several specialized dental clinics.

The specialized clinics are dedicated to caring for cancer care patients, people who are neurodivergent, seniors, and Indigenous populations living in remote parts of the province.

Oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) is a specialty that combines dental and medical surgery. It focuses on treating problems involving the mouth, teeth, jaws, and face.

These problems can affect how a person chews, speaks, breathes, or looks.

Two specialized oral clinics are part of the MUHC's Department of Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

They are the Oral and Facial Pain Clinic, and Oral Pathology.
