As of October 1, 2024, only patients with requisitions from an MUHC physician or prescriber can use Clic Santé to book an appointment for a test at the Royal Victoria Hospital (Glen site – adult) and Montreal General Hospital test centres. If you bring more than one test requisition with you, at least one must be signed by an MUHC physician.
Note: These changes do not affect the test centres at the Montreal Children’s Hospital and the Lachine Hospital.
The Collège des médecins du Québec (CMQ) has a directory with information on where doctors work.
- Visit the CMQ website and enter the last name of the doctor in the appropriate box.
- Click “Find a physician”.
- Select the doctor’s name from the list that appears.
If the address associated with the doctor belongs to the McGill University Health Centre, then the doctor is affiliated with the MUHC.
If this is the case, the address listing may include: MUHC, CUSM, or McGill University Health Center.
The Ordre des pharmaciens du Québec (OPQ) has a directory that lists Quebec pharmacists and if they are affiliated with a healthcare establishment. Please note the directory is only available in French.
- Visit the OPQ website and enter the last name of the pharmacist in the box under “Rechercher un pharmacien.”
- A list of names will appear below the box. Click on the name of the pharmacist who gave you the requisition.
- If the pharmacist’s information lists the MUHC as the “employeur”, then the pharmacist is affiliated with the MUHC.
If this is the case, the address listing will include: Centre universitaire de santé McGill (CUSM).
The Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ) has a directory of nurses. Please note the directory is only available in French.
Visit the OIIQ website and enter the nurse practitioner’s first name under “Prénom” and last name under “Nom”. Click “Rechercher”.
If the MUHC is listed as the “Lieu d’exercise principal”, then the nurse is affiliated with the MUHC.
The listing will include: Centre Universitaire de Santé McGill.
If your test requisition is from someone who does not work with the MUHC:
You can book an appointment for the test at a local point of service. Find a point of service near you.
Adults with a requisition from a healthcare provider not affiliated with the MUHC can still make an appointment for a test at the Lachine Hospital test centre.
People under the age of 18 with a requisition from a healthcare provider not affiliated with the MUHC can still make an appointment for a test at the Montreal Children’s Hospital test centre.
If you are given a requisition for a test during your appointment at the MUHC, you have several ways to book a slot:
- Scan the QR code at your clinic reception to book the appointment online. The QR code is also posted at the MUHC Test Centres. If you need help using the QR code, please ask an administrative agent.
- Use the links on this web page to book an appointment using the Clic Santé website.

You are not obligated to have test(s) done at the MUHC
Unless instructed otherwise, you can go to a test centre near your home. By doing this, you may have more options to find an appointment slot that meets your needs.
Many services, including blood tests and vaccinations, are available at local points of service around the province and covered by Quebec health insurance (RAMQ). Find a local point of service near you.

Sample drop-off
Please note that no appointment is necessary at an MUHC Test Centre when dropping off a sample. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to closing time to ensure specimen processing.

Before visiting one of our test centres
- Book your test centre appointment online via Clic Santé.
- Ensure you have:
- Your government-issued health card (If need be, visit the Admitting Office prior to your visit to update your personal information, for example address, phone number, etc.).
- A valid laboratory test requisition, given to you by a healthcare professional with the following mandatory information:
- patient’s full name or stamped Medicare card
- physician’s full name and license
- requested tests, clearly written and/or checked off
Please arrive ten minutes before your test centre appointment. You still need to take a number when you arrive. Your number will be called and you will be registered at the desk prior to being seen for your test.
Test requirements
1. Fasting can be requested for specific blood tests. Please ask your physician if you need to be fasting (8-12hrs) prior. You must come fasting for the following specific tests:
- Fasting Glucose (AC)
- Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT 75g)
- Glucose 2hr PC
2. Urine/stool specimen collections and drop-offs only (no blood tests needed):
- Please take a number (bottom button). Note: You do not wait in the same queue as the patients with blood tests.
- A properly filled out doctor’s requisition is needed with each sample collection.
- Please refer to the provided specimen collection procedure for further instructions on how to collect a specific sample.
Notes for the clientele:
- All centres are closed for statutory holidays and weekends.
- The laboratories cannot give laboratory results to patients. You can access your health information via the:

Results
Getting the results
Test results are sent to your healthcare team as soon as they are processed. Results of urgent tests may be ready within an hour of collection. Results of routine tests are usually ready within a day. Specialized tests may take longer to process. The results are then sent to your doctor by fax or mail.
The laboratories cannot give laboratory results to patients. The test centre does not have access to patient results.
Results can only be sent to the prescribing physician on the requisition. Other healthcare professionals requesting a copy can contact the prescribing physician or can contact the laboratory themselves through Client Services at 514 934-1934 ext. 35687 (option 4) or by email at [email protected]. This email and phone number is reserved for healthcare professionals only.
