Response to Radio Canada ombudsman data

Readers would have benefited by being given a more complete picture of these data. Although this article shows that complaints increased by 3.5% this year, the previous two years were much higher (2012-13: 1377 and 2013-14: 1332), so the overall trend has been decreasing complaints, NOT increasing. Additionally, complaints can vary by as much as 8% each year, so a change of 3.5% could simply represent the variation we expect in these data.

All hospital complaints data are publicly available on the MUHC website. With the data for the transition year coming in below the average of the past few years, the stellar work of our teams should be commended, not criticized.
