Lachine Hospital Modernisation Project: a transformation taking shape
For more than ten years, the project to expand and modernise the Lachine Hospital has represented a major step forward for our community, our patients and our teams. The work, which began in 2022, is progressing well, and the McGill University Health Centre remains committed to delivering a modern healthcare environment that is better suited to current and future needs.
The project team responsible for the modernisation of Lachine Hospital has been asked to review certain aspects of the design to meet the requirements requested by government authorities. Following a thorough review, the HOP Lachine project has been revised and adjusted in certain areas. This includes modifications to the renovation work on the existing building — specifically the areas dedicated to outpatient clinics, the test centre, and certain administrative spaces.
Please rest assured that every decision has been carefully analysed to prioritise the quality and safety of care, all while providing staff with a pleasant and stimulating working environment.
As the project moves forward, its core objectives remain unchanged: to provide high-quality care in modern facilities, including single rooms with en-suite bathrooms and improved clinical areas. The project continues to be a key driver in supporting the day-to-day work of our teams as well as enhancing the patient experience.
We will continue to keep you informed of any significant developments regarding the project as it progresses.
We would like to thank the community for its ongoing support as we continue to transform Lachine Hospital.
