Administrative Professionals Week
Carmelina Ingrao is an administrative professional who works at the call center.
Thank you, Carmelina, and all your colleagues, for the excellent work you do. Join us from April 21 to 27 as we celebrate Administrative Professionals Week!
What led you to pursue a career as administrative professional?
I always had an interest in health care and after I graduated in secretarial studies, I was lucky to be hired at the MUHC Call Centre. I have been working in the call centre for 24 years now and it has certainly evolved over the years. We are the front line for the MUHC. We are a centralized call centre that handles inbound and outbound calls. It requires us to multitask between locating, patient information, directing calls to various departments, logistics requests as well as answering the emergency code phones. I take pride in my work and think the call centre is a great place to work.
What is the best advice that someone at the MUHC ever gave you?
To stop and listen, and that we need compassion and understanding in our line of work in order to help serve patients and staff better.
Tell us about working with your colleagues
Here at the call centre, we are like a family. Over the years, we have grown together and have a great relationship. We take pride in our work, and we are always there to help each other when we need it.
How do you like to relax and unwind after a shift?
At the end of the day, I enjoy going on long walks with my dog and my daughter. It helps me unwind.
