Detecting acute inflammation before symptoms appear, using AI and wearable sensors
Researchers at The Institute and McGill University have developed the first AI-based platform capable of predicting acute inflammation occurring during a respiratory infection, using data captured by connected devices (watches, rings, or clothing), even before symptoms appear or PCR tests confirm the infection. Their work is published in the journal The Lancet Digital Health. Prof. Dennis Jensen and Dr. Emily McDonald, researchers at the Institute, spoke to various media outlets about their findings.
