Day Programs
Day hospital
The MUHC Day Hospital offers intensive, structured mental health treatment in an outpatient setting for individuals living with mental health issues.
It is a therapeutic program including groups that are mainly held from Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. over a period of 12 weeks. Patients must be referred by a doctor or nurse practitioner who will assume follow-up upon discharge from the program.
Groups are led by a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals promoting recovery through stress management, cognitive skills, psychoeducation, interpersonal and life skills.
The main goals of the program are to identify, learn and practice new skills within the setting of a supportive environment, aiming to promote patients taking ownership of their recovery and relapse prevention.
Our team values the role of patients' support systems (family, friends, loved one) in the recovery journey.
Transitional Day Program
The MUHC's Transitional Day Program provides brief, intensive treatment for adults with psychiatric illnesses. The program is an alternative to inpatient care.
The treatment lasts 2 to 8 weeks. It offers daily therapeutic activities, group sessions and individualized follow-up. It is designed to help participants stabilize, build coping skills and transition back smoothly to home, work, or school life.
