Reminder: Changes to parking rates and ticket validation at the Express outdoor parking lots

Effective November 1, 2026, the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) will introduce a new parking ticket validation process at Express Outdoor Parking Lots 1 and 2 at the Glen site. This measure is intended to prioritize these spaces for patients and their visitors while making it easier for eligible users to access the reduced parking rate.

Eligible patients and visitors must have their parking ticket validated before paying for parking. To do so, they can visit one of the Parking Services offices on the ground floor between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., and present proof of their appointment.

Once their ticket has been validated, they will be eligible for the reduced rate set by the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS), in accordance with the applicable rules.

For patients

Parking Services staff will ask to see proof of your appointment before validating your parking ticket. A printed appointment confirmation or a text message confirming the date of your appointment will be accepted.

For visitors

Visitors must provide the name of the patient they are visiting and the unit where the patient is staying. Parking Services staff can verify this information in the hospital’s systems.

For emergency department patients

Patients must show their emergency department wristband to have their parking ticket validated.

Important

Please note that the Express parking rate applies only Monday to Friday, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.

After 5 p.m. on weekdays and throughout the weekend, the reduced rate is automatically applied to all users. Parking ticket validation is not required during these times.

Why is this change being introduced?

This new procedure will help ensure that the reduced rate is applied appropriately to eligible patients and visitors, while improving the availability of parking spaces near the hospital’s main entrances.

It is also part of the MUHC’s efforts to align its practices with those of several other healthcare institutions across Quebec.
