MUHC Referral Portal launches at Glen site
The MUHC Referral Portal is now accepting consultation requests from adult patients needing first appointments at any of its sites. On Monday, June 2, medical specialties located at the Glen site, including those with clinics at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Montreal Chest Institute and Cedars Cancer Centre, joined the digital system. New patients can now also use the portal to request appointments at the MUHC Reproductive Centre and the MUHC Adult Ophthalmology Clinic.

Teams were on-hand that morning to introduce people to the new system and explain how to use it. Some of the benefits touted:
- fillable, auto-populating form
- email confirming the request has been received
- ticket number attached to the request
- more reliable than faxing
- fast and secure
“The portal is designed to make things easier for people needing to see a specialist at the MUHC for the first time,” explains Shari Beharry, manager of the Appointment and Referral Centre (ARC). “Like our promo cards say, users just have to fill out the online form, upload the referral from their healthcare provider and click send.”

As mandated by the Ministry of Health and Social Services, the MUHC is gradually eliminating the use of faxes. New adult patients are asked to use the MUHC Referral Portal to make their consultation requests.
The Montreal Children’s Hospital is scheduled to join the project in July.
