Bravery and empathy at the Montreal General Hospital
Exceptional courage
Three employees of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) recently demonstrated exceptional courage and profound humanity, and were recognized with a Certificate of Recognition by the Montreal Police Service (SPVM).
That day, Maan Al Nssr, a Parking Services employee, noticed a patient in distress. Without hesitation, he alerted Security at the Montreal General Hospital. Moments later, Jérôme Mercier and Anderson Alleyne arrived on the scene. With calm and empathy, they began speaking with the patient. After several long minutes of conversation, they were able to dissuade her from taking drastic action.

Recognition by the SPVM
"You went well beyond what is expected of you by coming to the aid of this vulnerable patient," said Simon Rivard, Commander of Station 20 of the Montreal Police Service (SPVM). Lieutenant Véronique Pilote-Rossi and Sergeant Josyane Bonneau joined him to present the three individuals with an SPVM Certificate of Recognition on June 18.

Dedication and patient care
The certificate reads:
“Thanks to your vigilance, keen observation skills, and unwavering dedication, a vulnerable patient was rescued in time and received the necessary care. Your quick response and ability to handle a crisis with calm and empathy undoubtedly helped prevent a tragedy.”
"These employees deserve our utmost admiration. They demonstrated exemplary skill. Their actions show how quickly our team can take initiative," said Stephen Verissimo, who expressed pride in their response. Caroline Nessim also praised Maan's attentiveness, noting that his swift action helped prevent the worst.
Congratulations to Maan, Jérôme, and Anderson, who make their respective departments proud. Their bravery and compassion remind us of the true meaning of the phrase “patient care”.
