Medical Day Hospital
The Glen Medical Day Hospital is an outpatient clinic entirely nursing-led.
Patients with certain health conditions can receive follow-up care at the day hospital. When this is possible, they don't need to stay overnight in the hospital.
Our services
The Medical Day Hospital provides general and specialized treatments. Procedures include:
- intravenous (IV) medication administration
- blood product administration, including IV immunoglobin (IVIG) and blood transfusions
- phlebotomy (procedure to drain blood)
- hydration therapy (giving fluids through IV)
- medical treatment for COVID
- allergy testing
- dynamic testing (special tests that measure how hormones or blood sugar levels change)
- monoclonal antibodies treatment (treatment to help fight certain infections or conditions)
- paracentesis (removing extra fluid from the abdomen)
How should I prepare for my appointment at the Medical Day Hospital?
- Bring your health insurance card (RAMQ) with you on the day of your appointment.
- Arrive 5 to 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment so you have time to check-in.
- If you are coming for a long treatment, you might want to bring something to eat. You can also buy food at the hospital cafeteria or on-site restaurants.
Appointments and contact information
You need to be referred to the Medical Day Hospital by an MUHC doctor or nurse practitioner.
You must be in stable condition and deemed fit to go home at the end of your appointment.
