Integration of the Chest Institute’s patients
The MUHC finishes its move

On June 14, the MUHC successfully completed the final phase of the biggest hospital move in Canadian history. 17 patients from the Chest Institute (MCI) and 21 patients from the hemato-oncology and palliative care at the Montreal General Hospital, were transferred successfully and at the Glen site. The event was covered by several media, including TVA and CTV, who also interviewed the director of the MCI, Dr. Ronald Olivenstein, and Joan Ivory, a member of the  auxiliary since 1973

Radio-Canada International reported on a new study led by Dr. Vassilios Papadopoulos, a researcher in the Experimental Therapeutics and Metabolism Program at the MUHC and Director of the Research Institute of the MUHC, suggesting that DINCH plasticizer, widely used in household products, toys and food packaging, may not be as safe as thought. This plastic was seen as a safe alternative to phthalates, which have been banned in several countries in the past decaderule graphic

Tunnel Inauguration

Vendome-MUHC superhospital tunnel inaugurated

On June 18, the tunnel from the Vendome metro and train station to the MUHC at the Glen site was officially opened. As Journal Métro and Global reported, Robert Poeti, the provincial minister for Montreal and transport minister, led the ribbon cutting ceremony along with Kathleen Weil, the MNA for Notre-Dame-de-Grâce-Côte des Neiges, borough mayor Russell Copeman, and MUHC Executive Director and CEO Normand Rinfret.
