Temporary closure of Cedar Avenue - July 11 to 12

A temporary closure of Cedar Avenue will begin on Friday, July 11 at 5 p.m. in order to install two new transformers at the Montreal General Hospital (MGH). A crane will be installed on Cedar Avenue, between the Livingston and Cedar entrances of the MGH, to transport the transformers into the courtyard (near the terrace on the 3rd floor).

Start date: Friday, July 11 at 5 p.m.

(Target) End date: Saturday, July 12 at 9 p.m.

**In the event of rain, the work will be delayed to Sunday, July 13**

Schedule:

As of Friday, July 11 at 5 p.m. only one lane of two-way traffic will be available between the Livingston and Cedar entrances of the MGH on Cedar Avenue. Signalmen will be on site to direct traffic.

On Saturday, July 12 at 7 a.m. Cedar Avenue will be closed completely between the Livingston and Cedar entrances of the MGH.

Local traffic will be diverted into the MGH Cedar Avenue drive thru in order to bypass the street closure.

A single lane of two-way traffic will re-open on Saturday, July 12 at approximately 1 p.m. and two-way traffic should resume no later than 9 p.m. the same day.

Access to Montreal General Hospital:

Some parking spaces will be closed in the MGH Cedar Avenue drive thru. A valet will be on site to redirect patients to alternative spaces nearby.

All hospital entrances will remain open.

A secured sidewalk will be maintained.

Patients, visitors and staff of the MGH are encouraged to use the Des Pins/Côte-des-Neiges entrance and parking access.

Signage and signalmen will be on site to direct traffic.

Alternate route (for local residents, Shriners Hospital and MGH visitors):

Signalmen will facilitate Cedar avenue residents’ access to their premises throughout the temporary closure.  Similarly, access to the Shriners Hospital from Des Pins will be facilitated.  In all circumstances, emergency vehicles will be able to pass through the affected area.
