Introducing the Normand Rinfret Awards
We are pleased to launch the FIRST edition of the Normand Rinfret Awards for the Advancement of Quality of Care at the MUHC.
What is it? The award is intended to recognize Normand Rinfret’s career-long commitment to supporting excellence and innovation in our hospitals through continuous improvements to patient care.
The Normand Rinfret Awards will recognize two (2) initiatives per year and award $6,000 to each selected team (total $ 12,000).
These annual awards are made possible thanks to the generosity of: the Cedars Cancer Foundation, Lachine Hospital Foundation, McGill University Health Centre Foundation, Montreal Chest Institute Foundation, Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation, Montreal General Hospital Foundation, Royal Victoria Hospital Foundation, and the Montreal Neurological Institute.
How can the prize money be used? This unique initiative aims to recognize clinical and non-clinical teams involved in a quality improvement initiative that will result in an identifiable positive impact on patient care. Funds are awarded specifically for release time of staff participating in the initiative.
To be eligible, the proposed initiative must meet the following criteria:
- Be of benefit to patients;
- Include at least two patients on the project team;
- Engage all stakeholders, defined as “an individual, group, or organization, who may affect, be affected by, or perceive itself to be affected by a decision, activity, or outcome of a project”;
- Have a clear aim statement (what is the problem) outlining objectives, a project timeline and measurable outcomes;
- Include a budget proposal pertaining to staff release time for participation in the initiative.
