Public information meeting – February 13, 2024

On Tuesday, February 13th, a public information meeting was held on the Lachine Hospital modernization project (HOP Lachine!). Residents from the neighborhood were invited to the hospital to hear from project stakeholders about the progress of the work and preparations for the transition of certain services to the new hospital. The meeting was shown simultaneously on Zoom. Some 50 people attended the meeting, either in person or virtually.

Martine Alfonso, MUHC Associate President and Executive Director hosted the evening. Project Manager Claude Lemieux provided an update on the schedule and outlined where services would be located in the new hospital. Myriam Ménard, Assistant Director at the hospital, was next and spoke about the new services that will be offered and the work required to prepare for the transition. Martin Gagnon, Project Manager for Axor presented the impressive progress of the work accomplished since June 2023. Finally, Jacques Filion, President of the Lachine Hospital Foundation, revealed that $3.4 million of the $5 million goal had been raised. He also took the opportunity to announce the benefit gala to be held on April 12.

During question period, Jean-Simon Frenette, General Manager of Project Management for SQI and Julie Couture, Assistant Director of Planning and Project Management at the MUHC, joined the team. The key players in the project answered questions from the Lachine community and the hospital’s neighbors. They discussed services to be offered in the hospital, measures to minimize disturbances, as well as other concerns. The topic of vegetation was also raised.
