Unit for chronically ventilated residents at the Camille-Lefebvre Pavilion of the MUHC now recognized as an acute care specialty unit

The McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) is pleased to announce that Unit 2 East of the CHSLD Camille Lefebvre Pavilion of the Lachine Hospital is now recognized as a unit that offers long-term acute care services as well as residential services to its chronically ventilated clientele, thanks to an amendment to its operating permit granted by the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS), on November 19.

This good news comes at the right time for the some twenty chronically ventilated residents living in Unit 2 East of the CHSLD. Thanks to this change, they will be able to continue to receive the services they require, while benefiting from an increase in staff and medical coverage.

These measures follow the report by Mr. Roger Paquet, tabled in September 2019, which highlighted the fact that the particular clientele of this regional unit, coming from all neighbourhoods of Montreal, required a higher level of care than that generally offered in CHSLDs.
