The Student Preceptor Program
The MUHC Student Preceptor program, launched in fall 2024, led by Emma Monaco and Lisa Frick, is designed to support nurse preceptors in their role supervising nursing students. Developed by Louise Murray, the program addresses the specific learning needs of preceptors, following a thorough needs assessment.
Key components include 4 accredited interactive presentations held in September at the MUHC Glen, Lachine, Neuro and the Montreal General Hospitals. These were developed collaboratively by Tania Perron of the Ingram School of Nursing and Louise Murray of the MUHC Department of Nursing, focusing on essential topics identified by preceptors and stakeholders. Additional educational resources are available on the newly created Teams Channel. Ongoing support, including individual guidance is also provided.
This initiative aims to enhance the professional development of nurse preceptors, ultimately improving the clinical learning experience of nursing students. For more details, please contact Louise Murray at: [email protected]
