New residents day 2025
Each year on July 1st, the MUHC welcomes over 200 new medical residents as well as clinical fellows. On this occasion, the team from the Education and Simulation Directorate organized an orientation day at the Glen site for the 2025 cohort.
The topics ranged from key information on infection prevention and control, safe prescribing practices, and ethical obligations, to practical details such as the location of resident lounges.
After the presentations, participants visited booths from key hospital services. According to Caroline White, Associate to the Director, EducationOffice and Simulation Centre, “It’s important to support residents on their first day. We need to make sure their journey gets off to a smooth start and give them the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the resources available.”
Jade, Cedric, Jillian, Munzer, Ishak, Hamidi, Neevya, Juan, Razan, Baamir—to name a few — were thrilled to embark on this new adventure. Some, like Isham, still feeling the effects of jet lag, had just arrived from Oman to start a fellowship in ophthalmology.
“It’s the beginning of a new chapter, and we’re proud to support these residents by providing them with a high-quality learning environment where they can sharpen their clinical skills,” says Marie-Eve Simoncelli, Director of Education and Simulation.
A big thank you to everyone who helped coordinate this event and share their expertise during the presentations and at the kiosks.
Join us in welcoming this amazing new cohort to the MUHC!
