The MUHC’s commitment to the social economy

November is Social Economy Month, a chance to celebrate the organizations that put people and community needs at the heart of their activities. The MUHC is part of this movement. It signed a declaration of commitment to support the social economy in 2023 and works with several businesses that generate positive social and environmental benefits.
Over the past year, the MUHC has worked with the following social economy businesses:
- Les Ateliers d’Antoine
- Les Amis de la montagne
- CycloChrome
- Critical Mass Montréal
- Movia
- Petites-Main La Fabrique
- Family Farmers Network
Social economy businesses operate differently from traditional for-profit companies. Rather than distributing profits to investors, they reinvest them in their social mission and in meeting community needs.
In Quebec, there are 11 200 social economy enterprises, generating a combined annual revenue of $47.8 billion and employing nearly 220,000 people.
These businesses help build stronger, more inclusive and sustainable communities. Discover and support Quebec social economy businesses through the Compagnies d'économie sociale québécoises directory.
