MUHC wins gold for Excellence in Environmental, Social, and Governance

The McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) has received the Gold Award for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) from the Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships. Presented at the P3 2024 Canada’s Infrastructure Conference, this award celebrates the MUHC’s commitment to quality healthcare through the success of its long-term, collaborative public-private partnership (P3) agreement.

Pierre-Marc Legris, Director of Technical Services, accepted the award on behalf of the MUHC, acknowledging the shared dedication of its partners, including McGill Healthcare Infrastructure Group (AtkinsRéalis/BBGI, part of AtkinsRéalis Infrastructure Fund, and Innisfree).  “I am extremely proud of this award, which highlights the environmental, social, and governance efforts made by all the teams involved in the management of the Glen site,” he said.

“We had a tremendous group of 10 nominees this year, showcasing the vitality and variety of P3s delivering critical services to Canadians in communities across the country,” said Brad Nicpon, Chair of the Awards Selection Committee and Partner, McCarthy Tétrault LLP. “These project teams are collaborating together to find innovative ways of providing better care and experiences for patients, students and families, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and lower ongoing operational costs, and in being more inclusive to welcome, represent and benefit Canada’s diverse communities.”

The MUHC’s ongoing achievements include LEED Gold certifications and energy efficiency measures that have lowered energy consumption by 35% compared to the average Canadian hospital. This distinction reflects a long-standing commitment to greener healthcare.
