Mission “PROactive” - men’s health and wellness day at the Lachine Hospital

After a first successful event, the Lachine Hospital is inviting men to its second Health and Wellness Day on Monday, November 21, 2022, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

A health check-up: a mission of great importance

Will you accept the assignment? Come and meet our urology specialists without an appointment to assess your health. Your check-up will include urine, blood and blood pressure tests and, if you wish, a prostate exam. The follow-up to these tests will be provided by our team of specialists.

Tests that can save a life

Did you know that one in nine men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in his lifetime? Two tests make it easy to detect this cancer early. Men can have a prostate-specific antigen test or a digital rectal exam. If you and your doctor feel you should have these tests, it is strongly suggested to do both.

“In this month of Noeudvembre and Movember, it’s important to remind men that prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men and the fourth most common cancer in Canada. It is essential that men take the time to assess their health and see a doctor if something is wrong. Seeing a doctor is not a sign of weakness,” notes Dr. Serge Carrier, director of Surgery at the Lachine Hospital and a urologist by profession.

Gentlemen, going to see a doctor is the first step in taking care of your health. Do it for yourself and for those around you!
