It’s here! Eurêka ! The Glen site digital wayfinder

We are proud to announce the launch of Eurêka !  the interactive digital wayfinder designed specifically to help patients find their way around Blocks C and D of the Glen site.

Eurêka !  uses blue dot technology to guide patients through the most frequented areas of the Royal Victoria Hospital, Montreal Chest Institute, and Cedars Cancer Centre. Users receive clear, step-by-step directions on their mobile phone screen.

How to use Eurêka !

There is no app to download and it works from home and on-site. You can use it on your desktop or mobile device. Simply enter eureka.muhc.ca in your browser bar or scan the QR code on one of the posters at the hospital. Then choose your start and end points at the Glen site and follow the map.

Eurêka !  will guide you to adult outpatient services on the first three levels and some of the most visited locations on other floors. You can even use it in the underground parking area.

Volunteers are still here to help

Not ready to go digital? Glen site volunteers are still on-site to provide in-person directions. They have also been trained to use Eurêka !  so, if you like, they can show you how to use the online map.

The main volunteer station is on S1 near the entrance to the Royal Victoria Hospital. Our volunteers are easy to spot around the hospital by their signature blue vests and smocks. They will have the QR codes for Eurêka !  on the back of their ID cards, as will many MUHC employees.

In response to patient feedback

Eurêka !  was paid for by the MUHC Users’ (Patients’) Committee and was developed to improve patient experience at the Glen site.

Some patients and families have shared that the hospital can be difficult to navigate, and that they sometimes arrive late to appointments because they have trouble finding their way.  Eurêka !  will help address these challenges.  A similar wayfinding project is planned for the Montreal Children’s Hospital and is scheduled to be released later this year.
