General Surgery Suturing Competition

On July 22, the MUHC Interprofessional Simulation Centre hosted its annual General Surgery Suturing Competition.

The competition also served as a qualifying event for the prestigious Canadian Association of General Surgeons (CAGS) National Laparoscopic Suturing Competition. The winner will have the honour of representing the program at the national competition taking place this year in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

This year’s event was especially enriching thanks to the participation of 27 international medical students, who had the opportunity to be mentored by 20 General Surgery residents. Through hands-on practice in both open and laparoscopic suturing, participants enhanced their technical skills while benefiting from the expertise and guidance of the next generation of surgeons.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the MUHC Foundation for its generous support, which made this activity possible and enabled learner to develop their skills in a high-quality simulation environment.
