Celebrating Patient Attendant Day – May 19
On May 19, let’s recognize the outstanding work of our patient attendants (PABs) across all our facilities. PABs play a crucial role in providing care and support to our patients, assisting with daily activities, ensuring safety, and offering comfort during their hospital stay. Their dedication and compassion are key to creating a positive environment for both patients and staff.

“We are fortunate to have a dedicated team of PABs, who consistently go above and beyond their duties,” says Nursing Resource Centre Manager Gianna Lepiane. “We are incredibly grateful for all of our PABs.” Gianna describes PABs as being part of a very essential service at the MUHC and says Patient Attendant Day is the perfect time to celebrate their vital role. This year she highlights two team members at the Montreal General Hospital - Ashok Das Kumar and Maria Aurora Aquino – and two team members at the Royal Victoria Hospital - Myriam Alix-Dutreuil and Marichu Cubar - for their exceptional contributions.

“Das and Maria, along with Myriam and Marichu, are very caring and compassionate. Like so many on our team, they are always willing to help and give a hand,” she says, pointing to their reliability, generosity and strong sense of teamwork.

Patient attendants (PABs) are found throughout the MUHC – including in Oncology. Tina Kussian, Nurse Manager of Ambulatory Oncology Services, shares her gratitude. “We also want to take a moment to thank the amazing PABs who support our oncology patients,” says Tina. “André Campeau is one example. His dedication and presence make a real difference to both our team and our patients. Many others who deserve the same recognition — we are grateful for each and every one of them.”

Thank you to all our PABs.
