The Hospitality Corner at the Montreal General Hospital of the McGill University Health Centre (MGH-MUHC) has served fresh, home-cooked meals for over 65 years. Managed by the MGH Auxiliary, the Hospitality Corner also looks after a bustling take-out business, a gift shop and a café.
As part of a long-standing tradition, the Hospitality Corner asks its customers to donate their tips to health research. Over the last few years, $35,000 in tips were collected! The MGH Auxiliary has once again generously donated this tip money to the Research Institute of the MUHC.
A formal presentation of the funds took place at the MGH Auxiliary Board of Directors meeting held on Thursday, November 23. Joseph Szollar, Hospitality Corner Operations Manager, presented a check for $35,000 to Dr. Rhian Touyz, Executive Director and Chief Scientific Officer of the RI-MUHC and Mr. Gilbert Tordjman, the RI-MUHC’s Chief Operating and Development Officer.
“I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the Auxiliary of the Montreal General Hospital for their very generous donation for research,” says Dr. Touyz. “The selfless and active participation of the Hospitality Corner volunteers is a wonderful benefit for patients and families, and we are so grateful for their contribution to research at the MGH.”
The MGH Auxiliary provides additional financial support for other research and medical activities at the MGH, working closely with the MGH Foundation, the Planning Committee, and MGH medical professionals.
