Appointment of Matti McNicol

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Matti McNicol, RN, BSN, to the position of Manager of the Partnerships Office, Telehealth and Bed Management. 

Her journey in healthcare began in 2009 as a Surgical Nurse at the Royal Victoria Hospital, where she excelled in caring for a diverse range of surgical patients and mentoring students. In 2016, she transitioned to the role of Critical Care Nurse Clinician in the Emergency Department, honing her skills in managing high-stress situations and training teams for critical care scenarios. 

From 2019 to 2021, Matti served as an Assistant Nurse Manager at the RVH ER, where she led a team of over 50 employees, effectively handled patient and family concerns, and provided unwavering support during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her ability to manage high-intensity environments, mediate conflicts, and use of effective leadership has prepared her for this new challenge. Additionally, she has been a dedicated Clinical Nursing Instructor at McGill University and Dawson College, positively impacting students' education with innovative projects and a teaching style that’s had a lasting effect. 

Beyond her professional achievements, Matti is a passionate traveler who explored the world for a year, gaining a global perspective. She is also an animal lover, advocating for animal welfare. She looks forward to learning from the amazing team at the MUHC and working with them.
