New configuration of the Décarie - De Maisonneuve intersection
The City of Montreal announced on December 6 its plans to redevelop the Décarie – De Maisonneuve intersection. The new configuration of the Décarie – De Maisonneuve intersection will allow better traffic management and include measures such as new one-way bicycle lanes and bike boxes (protected zones) to improve safety for cyclists.
In addition, chemin Upper-Lachine will be closed to vehicle traffic between avenue Crowley and the Décarie – De Maisonneuve intersection, where it will be turned into a new public space reserved for pedestrians and cyclists. The new space will be especially attractive thanks to new plantings and street furniture. The 90 and 104 bus routes operated by the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) will be reviewed and adjusted to better serve local residents and users of the hospital and businesses.
Construction on boulevard Décarie (sidewalks, roadway, furniture and a rain garden) will begin in the spring of 2013. Plans and specifications for work on boulevard De Maisonneuve and the Upper-Lachine public space will be prepared in 2013; the work will begin in 2014.
