The MUHC’s adult outpatient ophthalmology department, formerly located at the Royal Victoria and at the Montreal General hospitals, has now moved to brand-new facilities at 5252 de Maisonneuve West, one building west of the Vendôme Metro station. 

 

This Glen-adjacent facility, named the McGill Academic Eye Centre (MAEC), is the academic home of McGill ophthalmology and the new home for all MUHC adult ophthalmology-related clinics. 

The MAEC will be used for examining patients with complex ophthalmological problems, performing advanced diagnostic and minor surgical procedures, teaching and conducting clinical research.

  • In the case of an emergency related to eye health, patients should visit the MGH Emergency Department. Patients asked to visit MAEC will be given specific instructions to do so.

Getting to the MAEC:

Drop-off and taxis: A 15 minute drop-off zone is available on de Maisonneuve Blvd. W., only a few metres west of the main entrance of the building.

Car: Parking is available along Northcliffe Avenue or at the Queen Elizabeth Health Complex at 2100 Marlowe Avenue in the parking lot across the street.

Visitors can also park in the Glen site parking lot, accessible by Décarie Blvd. The lot is located underground and offers 42 reserved disabled parking spaces for your convenience.

Getting there from the Glen: Make your way across the outdoor main plaza to the underground pedestrian tunnel (located in the grey building behind the spherical statue). This connects to the Vendôme Metro station. Place Vendôme is the first building west of the Vendôme Metro station main entrance on de Maisonneuve Blvd. W.

Bus: There are six local buses that stop directly at the Vendôme Metro station (37, 90, 102, 104, 105, 124) and five that make frequent stops near the Glen site (17, 78, 63, 371, 420).

Metro: Located on the Orange Line, Vendôme Metro is a quick ride from the Blue and Green lines, and is conveniently situated right next door to Place Vendôme.

Commuter trains: Vendôme intermodal station also connects to three commuter AMT train lines (Saint-Jérôme, Candiac and Vaudreuil-Hudson).

Accessability
