​​The MUHC’s Gynecologic Oncology Division provides comprehensive multi-disciplinary care for women with gynecologic cancers. ​These include:

  • endometrial cancer
  • ovarian cancer
  • cervical cancer
  • vulvar cancer
  • vaginal cancer 

We focus on early detection and novel therapies for treatment.

Our services

We provide a wide range of specialized services, including: 

  • ​​robotic and laparoscopic techniques (minimally-invasive surgery)
  • sentinel lymph node mapping​
  • ultra-radical multi-organ abdominal and pelvic surgery to offer the best possible outcome in advanced cancer
  • intraperitoneal chemotherapy (chemotherapy delivered directly in the abdomen), including hyperthermic (heated) intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC)
  • clinical trials (Phases I to III)
  • innovative tests for the early detection of ovarian and endometrial cancer (DOvEE and DOvEEgene)

Our programs include: 

  • ​​colposcopy to evaluate the cervix, vulva and vagina
  • ​endocrinology clinic for metabolic optimization​
  • ​genetic testing and counseling​
  • ​pre-habilitation clinic
  • psychosocial support for patients and their families
  • second opinion consults (if necessary, virtual consultations can be arranged)
  • ​shared care with the community for endometrial cancer patients

Our team includes gynecologic-oncologists, gynecologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists, pharmacists, pathologists, radiologists and specialized nurses.  

We are involved in research that aims to  understand the complex health issues facing patients with gynecologic cancers and improve patient outcomes.

We are backed by the Women’s Health Research Unit (WHRU), which leads one of the largest clinical trials programs for gynecologic oncology in Canada.
