Summary

Reporting to the President of the Réseau Universitaire Intégré de Santé et de Services Sociaux of McGill University (President and Chief Executive Officer of the McGill University Health Centre) and to the Vice-President of the RUISSS McGill (Vice-President, Health Affairs, and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at McGill University), the incumbent ensures the effective operation of the RUISSS by overseeing activities, managing resources, and implementing strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establishes the strategic direction of RUISSS McGill.
  • Supports the President of RUISSS McGill (President and CEO of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC)) by ensuring the implementation of mandates and directions assigned by the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS) and Santé Québec. Monitors the execution of decisions, oversees their deployment, and ensures the necessary follow-up to achieve the intended outcomes.
  • Oversees the activities and operational functioning of RUISSS McGill, including its subcommittees and projects. Leads, coordinates, and, when required, chairs the work of the following bodies of RUISSS McGill: 
    • Steering Committee
    • Indigenous Affairs Table
    • Best Practices for Youth Table
    • Medical Directors and Professional Services Leaders Table
    • Education Leadership Table
    • Nursing Sciences Table
    • Centre of Expertise in Chronic Pain Management
    • Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Health for Seniors (CEDurable)
    • Consortium of Electronic Library Resources
  • Implements any other initiatives aimed at promoting the mission of RUISSS McGill.
  • Supervises and collaborates with the Program Officer to: 
    • Ensure completion of administrative activities and compliance with the RUISSS McGill budget; 
    • Implement communication strategies to enhance the visibility of the RUISSS McGill; 
    • Coordinate and organize Steering Committee meetings and related follow-up activities; 
    • Review materials and communications intended for affiliated health and social services institutions and universities.
  • Acts as liaison with Santé Québec, the MSSS, and institutions within RUISSS McGill network.
  • Promotes and develops relationships with regions and universities affiliated with RUISSS McGill, as well as with other RUISSS networks across Québec.
  • Represents the RUISSS as required.
  • Participates, as a representative of the RUISSS McGill, in the Conference of the RUISSS Networks and other strategic RUISSS bodies.
  • Serves as spokesperson for the RUISSS McGill in communications with its partners.

Qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in a discipline relevant to the position.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience.
  • Fluency in both English and French, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Master’s degree in Administration, Health Sciences, Social Services, or another related field is a strong asset.
  • Five (5) years of management experience within the health and social services network and/or the university sector is a strong asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of the health and social services network, as well as the university environment and culture.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and French.
  • Demonstrated strategic, political, and change management capabilities.
  • Proven ability to creatively resolve complex situations.
  • Strong conceptual thinking skills, with the ability to effectively structure content and processes.
