The MUHC Division of Thoracic Surgery includes four programs:
- Upper Gastro-Intestinal Cancer Program – 514-934-1934, ext. 44327
- Pulmonary Metastasis Program – 514-934-1934, ext. 44327
- Lung Cancer Program – 514-934-1934, ext. 44327
- Benign Foregut Diseases Program – 514-934-1934, ext. 44327
Through these programs, it manages a wide range of thoracic and upper gastro-intestinal conditions of both benign and malignant origins including:
- Lung, Esophagus and Stomach Cancer
- Sarcoma of the Chest
- Mesothelioma
- Paraesophageal Hernia
- Achalasia
- Gastroesophageal Reflux
The MUHC Division of Thoracic Surgery also offers the following services to the patients who reside in the McGill RUIS territory (which covers 60 per cent of the province of Quebec and comprises 1.8 million people) and who suffer from the most complex Esophagus and Lung cancers:
Esophagus
- All esophageal resections (surgical removals) within the RUIS region
- Complex chemotherapy and radiotherapy
- Esophaegal endoscopic therapies - laser, complex stenting, endoscopic resections (endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD); endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), ablative therapies for Barrett's (radiofrequency ablation, cryotherapy)
Lung
- Complex lung resections for the entire RUIS (airway resection, chest wall resection, hilar lymph node disease, planned pneumonectomies, pleural pneumonectomies, etc.) and local (MUHC) patients with all stages of disease
- Complex radiotherapy and chemotherapy
- Endobronchial therapies for airway disease (stenting, laser, endoscopic resection)
