Why did you build a new hospital?

Simply put, our older facilities were inadequate for modern healthcare needs. As you may know, some of our sites were built more than a century ago. The New MUHC has our hospital sites, rather than six. A new facility was built at the Glen, and the Lachine Hospital and Montreal General were also renovated and upgraded. The Neuro is also planned to move to the Glen site in the future, but for the time being, remains at its current location on University Ave.

At the same time the MUHC redefined the way it delivers health care, focusing on the complex care needs of Quebecers, which is the mandate of only a few specialised institutions in the province while working with partners to beef up healthcare services closer to patients home.
