RI-MUHC TeamRI-MUHC team to get CFI grant

Dr. Shirin Enger of the Faculty of Medicine’s Department of Oncology and a researcher at the RI- MUHC and another McGill researcher have received federal grants through the Canada Foundation for Innovation’s (CFI) John R. Evans Leaders Fund (JELF). The announcement was made on March 14 by Minister of Science Kristy Duncan at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. StatinsHeart attacks could be reduced by rethinking the way we prescribe statins

Millions of people globally take statins to help lower their cholesterol level. An international research team led by Dr. Georges Thanassoulis, RI-MUHC researcher and director of Preventive and Genomic Cardiology at the MUHC, may have developed a new approach to determine which individuals should receive these important medications.
