The human voice is a powerful and essential communication tool, yet most people take it for granted. Voice disorders affect one in ten adults in their lifetime and they often occur in people whose work depends critically on the voice such as teachers, coaches, politicians and singers. MUHC clinic helps the LGBTQ population overcome challenges
Members of the LGBTQ population face particular challenges that go beyond having sexual identity issues. Gay or transgender people are still perceived as different and not as good as straight people. That perception comes not only from strangers, but also from family members and friends. Dr. Richard Montoro, psychiatrist and co-director of the McGill University Sexual Identity Centre (MUSIC) located in the Montreal General Hospital of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) spoke with CJAD’s Andrew Carter.
