COVID-19: Situation on the 15th floor of the Montreal General Hospital

The 15th floor of the Montreal General Hospital of the McGill University Hospital Centre is experiencing an outbreak of confirmed cases of COVID-19: two patients and four people working in this unit have tested positive.
Public health authorities from the Quebec government have been notified.
Until further notice, new admissions to this unit have been halted.
In accordance with the COVID-19 protocols established by the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Department, the MUHC Human Resources and IPC teams are conducting an epidemiological investigation to trace close contacts of infected individuals.
- The two patients who tested positive were placed in isolation.
- Approximately 30 MUHC staff members have been quarantined.
- In addition, all patients who may have been exposed to the infected individuals are under isolation precautions and are actively being monitored for symptoms.
- The care team on the 15th floor is strictly adhering to infection control measures to reduce internal transmission.
