Do you have a family history of any of the three conditions screened for (Tay-Sachs disease, Canavan disease, familial dysautonomia), or a family member who is a carrier for any of these conditions? Or do you have other concerns regarding your personal or familial medical history that would require a consultation in medical genetics?
Your answer is Yes: Please contact the Department of Medical Genetics to schedule an appointment for a genetic countelling session at 514 412-4427. Mention that one of your family members is affected with or is a carrier of one of the Jewish genetic disorders, or specify for what reasons other that screening you require a consultation in medical genetics.
Your answer is No: Proceed to the screening program
Please contact the Department of Medical Genetics to schedule an appointment for a genetic counselling session at 514 412-4227. Mention that your partner is of Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry and is a carrier of one of the Jewish genetic disorders.
