Will Vendôme metro station have a second pedestrian access to the Glen?
Yes, a second universally-accessible entrance will be opening its doors by winter 2020. Entirely funded by the Government of Québec, the project as a whole consists in adding a new, accessible entrance building Vendôme métro station and adding an underground pedestrian link between the station and the Réseau de transport métropolitain (RTM) train platforms and the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC).
Ridership forecasts show that the number of customers using this intermodal hub will grow from 9 to 18 million a year by 2021. To contend with that reality, adding a second entryway equipped with elevators proved to be the most optimal solution for all partners involved (STM, RTM, MUHC, Ministry of Transport, Sustainable Mobility and Transportation Electrification) for adequately ensuring the fluid movement of customers. Work will start in fall 2017 and continue to winter 2020. Société de transport de Montréal (STM) was appointed project manager by the Government of Québec.
