HOP LACHINE takes a new step

After a wait of several weeks, the official confirmation letter from the Health Ministry allowing the Lachine modernization project to finally take off was finally received at the beginning of May. This letter confirms the government's commitment to offer the best possible healthcare infrastructures.

This is an exciting phase for project manager Claude Lemieux: "The whole team was at the starting line, this is like a whistle that tells us the race is starting. In this case it's more like a marathon that will last five years, but we are ready and already in action."

In the coming months, the project team will issue a call for tenders for the construction and update its timeline.

The Lachine Hospital modernization project includes the expansion of the community hospital as well as upgrades to certain units in the historic building. Once completed, this estimated $223 million project will allow the hospital to maintain its outstanding quality of care and provide patients with modern facilities and individual rooms.

This project, which is named HOP Lachine! – A patient-oriented hospital –is being undertaken in partnership with the Health and Social Services Ministry (MSSS) and the Société québécoise des infrastructures (SQI), according to the Directive sur la gestion des projets majeurs d’infrastructure publique.
