Your crucial role in the lab
Technician Class B
A Technician Class B performs the technical work normally performed by a technician graduate or a qualified technician in one or more disciplines in a clinical or research laboratory.
Under the supervision of the head of the medical laboratory department and in close collaboration with the Assistant Chief Medical Technologist or the technical coordinator of the sector, the incumbent:
- 90% Assists laboratory technologists and technicians in performing various technical tasks assigned to them. Receives, verifies compliance, and records analysis requests in the laboratory's various information systems. Ensures the proper preservation of samples until analysis. Prepares samples to be transported to the various laboratory sectors. Depending on the activity centre, various tasks are performed (Pathology, Microbiology, Laboratories, etc.). Ensures preventative maintenance of materials and equipment and the decontamination of work surfaces according to established procedures.
- 10% Performs any other related or specific laboratory duties at the request of the Assistant Chief, the Technical Coordinator, or their delegate.

Requirements:
- Secondary School Diploma V (D.E.S.) or a certificate of equivalence of the person or a Comparative Evaluation from the MIFI
With
- Two (2) years of relevant experience in an analytical, biochemistry, pathology, or research laboratory
Or with one of the following:
- An AEC in a laboratory technique (laboratory analysis, microbiology, biotechnology, etc.) or the AEC integration into the profession
- One year completed in a DEC program (microbiology, biochemistry, biology, health sciences, biopharmaceutics, etc.)
- University certificate or bachelor's degree in science (microbiology, biochemistry, biology, health sciences, biopharmaceutics, etc.)
Other skills:
- Good command of spoken and written French
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team
- Digital proficiency
Laboratory Assistant
A Laboratory Assistant performs the technical work normally performed by a technician graduate or a qualified technician in one or more disciplines in a clinical or research laboratory.
- 50% Participates in operations surrounding the reception in the LIS and the reception of products; receives (unpacking, unboxing) and stores laboratory merchandise and consumables. Ensures that weekly eyewash station tests and annual emergency shower tests are performed and completes the documentation. Disinfects workbenches and performs cleaning tasks daily. Keeps the premises free of waste and in a clean and tidy condition at all times. Maintains the replacement of VIP tissue processor reagents each week and completes the required documentation. Ensures that lab coats are taken to the laundry service for cleaning.
- 30% Provides administrative support, completes and verifies various controlled documents. Records biological samples in the LIS (Laboratory Information System), stabilizes them, routes them to workbenches, and sends them externally.
- 10% Collects and transports chemical waste, alcohol from the pharmacy, fetuses, samples, and other specimens from the morgue to pathology and vice versa. Classifies pathology slides and blocks, and transfers them and stores them in the hospital annex for long-term filing.
- 10% Performs any other laboratory-related duties at the request of the Assistant Chief, the Technical Coordinator, or their delegate.

Requirements:
- Secondary School Diploma V (D.E.S.) or a certificate of equivalence of the person or a comparative assessment from the MIFI
- No experience required
- Good command of spoken and written French
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team
- Digital proficiency
