A shout out to Canadian nurses

May 11 to 17 is National Nursing Week in Canada – a time to reflect on and recognize the great job that nurses do across the country. Montreal Children’s Hospital nurse, Lili Orsini, demonstrated her commitment to life when she decided to adopt two of her baby patients. This touching story was covered by CBC News.

Retired nurses visit the Glen

Nursing Class of ‘55 tours the Glen

CTV News followed a group of retired nurses who reunited for a tour the MUHC’s new Glen site, sixty years after graduating from the Royal Victoria School of Nursing. Some of the former nurses came from as far away as British Columbia and Europe to get a glimpse at the new Royal Victoria Hospital.

MUHC launches Quebec medical cannabis registry

Dr. Mark Ware, Director of Clinical Research of the Alan Edwards Pain Management Unit at the MUHC, was interviewed by CTV News and Radio-Canadaon the launch of a research database for users of medical cannabis in Quebec. The project aims to better manage the use of cannabis for pain management and improve patient safety.

Allergies

Educating the immune system to prevent allergies

Dr. Christine McCusker, allergist at the Montreal Children’s Hospital and researcher at the RI-MUHC, was interviewed by La Presse about her development of a potential vaccine against allergies by using a molecule that redirects the immune response away from the allergic response.
