MUHC opens new cardiac clinic at Queen E Health Complex

Dr. Nadia Giannetti, MUHC’s chief of cardiology, was interviewed by the Westmount Independent this week for the opening of the MUHC’s new outpatient cardiovascular clinic at the Queen Elizabeth Health Complex. This clinic will provide non-emergency patients with access to heart specialists and cardiovascular services. More complex cares will continue to be referred to the MUHC.

An effective emergency department that runs smoothly

The emergency department (ED) of the Montreal Children’s Hospital was featured in a TVA report earlier this week. Dr. Harley Eisman, Medical Director of the ER, said the Children’s ED receives 180 to 260 patients, and 30 ambulances, daily and those numbers are increasing. But the enthusiastic nurses and physicians, and the new state of the art facilities, are helping things run as smoothly as ever.

Researchers find gene linked to rare disease

Researchers find gene linked to rare disease

Dr. Geneviève Bernard from the Research Institute of the MUHC (RI-MUHC) and Dr. Benoit Coulombe from the Institut de recherches cliniques de Montréal (IRCM) were interviewed by the Montreal Gazette and Health Canal about a recent study that helped identified a new gene associated with a form of leukodystrophy – a deadly group of neurodegenerative diseases that affect one in 7,000 children and have no cure.
