Recruitment process for the Board of the MUHC

[COURTESY TRANSLATION] As part of the appointment process for the new independent members of the McGill University Health Center (MUHC) Board of Directors, a first meeting of the Recruitment Committee arranged by Mr. Gaétan Barrette, Minister of Health and Social Services, took place.

This committee, consisting of eight community members and a representative from the ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux, is chaired by David McAusland. Its mandate is to ensure that the best possible candidates are recruited and undergo a thorough analysis and selection process.  Its objective is to propose at least two candidates for each of the profiles required for a non-merged establishment as described in the Act to modify the organization and governance of the health and social services network, in particular by abolishing the regional agencies:

1 °: governance or ethics competency;

2 °: risk management, finance and accounting competency;

3 °: human, property and information resources competency;;

4 °: auditing, performance and quality management competency;

9 °: experience as a user of social services.

To be eligible, applicants must meet several eligibility criteria, including not having, directly or indirectly, any relationship or interest, be it financial, commercial, professional or philanthropic, that could influence the quality of their decisions concerning the interests of the institution. In addition, they must not be a member of the Board of a foundation of the institution. Other criteria are available on the Ministry's website.

The Minister must, in making these appointments, take account the socio-cultural, ethno-cultural, linguistic or demographic composition of all the users to whom the institution provides services.
