Normand Rinfret Appointed President-Director General of MUHC

As Board Chairman, it is my great pleasure to announce that Quebec’s Ministry of Health and Social Services confirmed today the appointment of Normand Rinfret as President and Director General of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). This appointment follows the recent application process required with the passing of Bill 10.

Mr. Normand Rinfret

It is extremely reassuring to know that the MUHC’s Director General already has a deep understanding of the organization and is committed to helping it realize its mission, particularly given the imminent moves to the Glen site, the need to return to fiscal equilibrium and maintain the quality, safety and continuity of health services in a networked environment that’s currently in flux.

Upon hearing the news, Mr. Rinfret expressed how enthusiastic and grateful he was at being able to see the MUHC’s exciting transformation through to the end: “When I re-applied for my job, I conveyed how much progress the MUHC has made in the past few years to become a stronger steward of public funds. Such progress required a leap of faith that leadership knew what it was doing and a whole lot of teamwork. I am glad to have the chance to continue collaborating with such a great group of people and be worthy of the MUHC community’s respect.”

The Board of Directors of the MUHC thanks the government’s advisory committee and Minister Barrette for recognizing the benefits of leadership continuity and excellence at this critical juncture in the MUHC’s transformation, and hopes that the appointments of independent members of the Board will soon follow in the same direction.

Please join our Board in congratulating Normand Rinfret on his appointment. It’s a testament to the trust he has worked hard to earn. We’re thrilled for the MUHC and the population it serves!
