Neonatal Nurses Week - September 11 to 17

Join us as we celebrate Neonatal Nurses Week from September 11 to 17.

Bao Tran Dang is assistant nurse manager in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

What led you to becoming a neonatal nurse?  

I wanted to work in intensive care and also take care of babies, so neonatology was the perfect unit for me. I love the diversity and opportunity for advancement in neonatology.  I also enjoy working in partnership with families and different healthcare professionals. 

What is the best advice that someone at the MUHC ever gave you?  

Always be curious in your work and about other people.  Curiosity brings us new knowledge and opportunities. Curiosity also removes prejudices and provides answers. 

Tell us about working with your fellow neonatal nurses?

My colleagues are passionate and dedicated to our vulnerable population at the NICU and want to constantly grow in their profession. 

They have an excellent team spirit. I greatly appreciate their support and sense of humor during difficult times.  

Many friendships have been formed over the years, for which I am very grateful. I have a golden team! 

How do you like to relax and unwind after a shift?

I love spending quality time with my family and friends. A good restaurant always puts a smile on my face!
